On Receiving Initiation into the Vajrayana Path

Written on the occasion of the visit of His Holiness the Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche, [the 41st] head of the Sakyapa order of Tibetan Buddhism, to New York at the invitation of the Jetsun Sakya Center for Buddhist Studies and Meditation in the late 70s. These notes express the authors understanding of answers to questions which he put to His Holiness on this subject. Different renditions of this text exist, however, the current version has been edited from the original to assist in clarity and articulation. Some of the original commentary has been purposely omitted by the editor so as to aid in clarification or to omit what is to be revealed and explained by the lama during the wang/jenang.
