English Title: Remembrance of the Good Qualities of the Triple Gem

The Remembrance of the Good Qualities of the Triple Gem is learned, memorized, and chanted in every school of Tibetan Buddhism. It is one of the first chants recited every morning in the monasteries and recounts the positive qualities of the Triple Gem.

Homage to Tara with Twenty-one Salutations

Tibetan Title: ༄༅།  །སྒྲོལ་བསྟོད་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ཉེར་གཅིག་བཞུགས།  །

English Title: Homage to Tārā with Twenty-one Salutations

Found in all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, it is a traditional and popular prayer to the Bodhisattva Tārā (Tibetan སྒྲོལ་མ, Drolma, also known as Ārya Tārā, or Jetsun Dolma).

Prayer to Jetsun Tara

English Title: Prayer to Jetsün Tārā

Written by Jetsün Dragpa Gyaltsen, many of the verses are included in the Sakya-pa version of the Four- Maṇḍala Rite of Ārya Tārā.

Gelongma Palmo’s Sevenfold Prayer

Tibetan Title: ༄༅།  །དགེ་སློང་མ་དཔལ་མོས་མཛད་པའི་ཡན་ལག་བདུན་པ་ནི།  །

English Title: Gelongma Palmo’s Sevenfold Prayer

This seven-branch offering, which is found in many Tārā sādhanas, is attributed to the famous nun Lakṣmī (Gelongma Palmo), founder of the Nyungné tradition.

Goddess with Devotion

English Title: Goddess with Devotion

A short prayer to Ārya Tārā professing the results of propitiating the goddess. These lines are included in the Sakya-pa version of the Four-Maṇḍala Rite of Ārya Tārā.

This praise to Tārā is only partially translated. The main part of the text is still to be translated.

Prayer which Saved Sakya

Tibetan Title: ༄༅།  །གྲུབ་ཐོབ་ཐང་སྟོང་རྒྱལ་པོའི་རྡོ་རྗེའི་གསུང་ནད་ཀྱི་འཇིགས་པ་ཞི་བའི་གསོལ་འདེབས་ས་སྐྱ་ནད་གྲོལ་མ་ནི།  །

English Title: The Vajra Speech which Saved Sakya From Epidemics: A Prayer for Pacifying the Fear of Disease by the Siddha Thangtong Gyalpo; also known simply as The Prayer which Saved Sakya from Epidemics.

When the great seat of the Sakyapas was assailed by a multitude of epidemics, the tantrikas and shamans tried all kinds of practices – ransom – rituals, torma-offerings, healing mantras and protection ceremonies – but nothing worked.

English Title: Aspiration of Eleven Perfections

This prayer is recited to gain the positive qualities of the Buddha’s mind and as an addition to Samantabhadra’s Aspiration to Noble Deeds.

Nagarjuna’s Aspiration

Tibetan Title: ༄༅།    །འཕགས་པ་ཀླུ་ས྅གྲུབ་ཀྱི་སྨོན་ལམ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ།    །

English Title: Nāgārjuna’s Aspiration

Written by Nāgārjuna. May be recited at any occasion for the benefit of oneself and others as an aspiration to attain a good rebirth.

The Aspiration of Samantabhadra or Samantabhadra’s Aspiration to Noble Deeds is often called the “King of Prayers.” Monlam assemblies of all traditions recite this prayer because of its inconceivable blessings.
